Health-Promoting Lifestyle Centres for South Africa

2011

The Health-Promoting Lifestyle Centre is designed to be a resource centre for South African citizens with the purpose of improving health and reduce healthcare costs in South Africa. While the concept of pathogenic (disease-causing) is well recognized, the notion of salutogenic (health-causing) presents a groundbreaking shift toward a vision of healthy living beyond conventional models of acute care, prevention and sustainability.

The centre also serves as a hub for health resource vehicles, which brings health resources to citizens that cannot travel to the centre.

The facility is designed to be a universal beacon of health which can be found in rural, town and city settings.
